The mother of two Memphis youth football players is facing charges of aggravated assault after she used a baseball bat to attack a man who she claims sexually molested her two sons.

As reported by Memphis CBS affiliate WREG and NBC affiliate WMC-TV, Lakeshia Richmond was in court on Monday to answer to charges that she violently attacked Tony Massey, the youth football coach who leads a team that includes both her 8 and 9-year-old sons. Allegedly, Richmond was told by her son that Massey had touched him inappropriately, and just moments later the coach happened to be walking down the street unaccompanied within Richmond's eye shot.

From there, the mother's instincts took over. According to WREG, Richmond has admitted to beating the coach with a bat, leaving him badly injured. WMC reports claimed that Massey suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung and stitches in his hands as a result of the baseball bat-attack.

Meanwhile, Richmond apologized for attacking the coach, but refused to back down from her justification for the attack.

"When I see him, I see my kids being hurt and that's all I see," Richmond told WREG. "During the beating he was saying he didn't do it and that he was sorry. If you didn't do it then why are you saying you're sorry? What are you sorry for?"

Added the mother to WMC:

"I did what I had to do. I put it all in God's hands now," said Richmond.
