Here’s a riddle: You’re in Wyoming, and face a rather roundabout trip to your team’s away basketball game, which will cause you to detour more than an hour out of the way through Bozeman. Yet you don’t want to spend multiple hours arriving at the game. So how do you travel to the game?

If you’re a fan of West Yellowstone (Mont.) High, you just hop on a snowmobile and cut the travel time in half. Forget Segways and motorcycles, snowmobiles are the new great leveler of traffic times.

As reported by MaxPreps, a group of 50-70 West Yellowstone basketball fans decided to take a snowmobile ride through Yellowstone Park en route to a game at Gardiner (Mont.) High. The unique travel plan -- try getting that to load on Google Maps -- helped the snowmobile riders cut down a road trip that lasted two hours for players and coaches riding the team bus.

West Yellowstone boys basketball coach Josh Demlow told MaxPreps that a group of 50-75 fans opted to take a snowmobile ride through the park to get to the big away game, which turned out to be far less rewarding than the trip itself; Gardiner emerged from the game victorious by a final score of 78-25.

As it turns out, even a 53-point loss couldn’t ruin a beautiful if chilly snowmobile ride for West Yellowstone fans. Demlow reported that the riders saw a wolf on the ride through the woods to the game.

If that isn’t a unique perk for high school hoops fans en route to a game, Prep Rally doesn’t know what is.
