10-year-old golfer hosts 100 hole marathon for eye cancer charity

It takes serious endurance to last 100 holes on a golf course. Now imagine trying to do that at age 10 … with only one eye.

Incredibly that's precisely what Murrieta (Calif.) 10-year-old Kyle Lograsso is planning, all in the name of charity. According to the North County Times, Lograsso, who lost his left eye to cancer at age 2, has spent much of the eight years since raising money to fight retinoblastoma. Still in elementary school, Lograsso has raised more than $60,000 to date for a variety of retinoblastoma charities.

Now Lograsso is holding a 100-hole golf marathon with the goal of raising $50,000 in one golf-packed day. No matter whether or not he hits that number, Lograsso insists that he will play the entire slate of holes.

"We're going from 6:30 in the morning until it's over," Lograsso told the Times. "We may finish at 9:30 at night. But I'm determined to finish.

"I want to find a cure. I lost my left eye and I don't want other kids to get cancer and lose their left eye or right eye."

While some have questioned whether Lograsso has any concept of how intense 100 holes of golf would be -- his mother Regina Lograsso openly questioned if she knew how long it would take to complete the rounds -- but now all agree that when the event comes, the younger Lograsso will find some way to finish the 100 holes.

"When he first threw out that challenge, I don't think Kyle realized how many holes 100 holes is, but he is determined," Regina Lograsso told the Times. "He says if he has to play the last few holes barefoot or on his knees, he's going to do it.

"Kyle just has a special place in his heart for wanting to help other kids. I know a lot of parents say that, but everything he does comes from his heart, and it's just great to see."
