Across his three years of high school football, Pinson Valley (Ala.) High wide receiver Earnest Robinson has made plenty of impressive, clutch catches. Still, none may have been more timely than the one he pulled down on Saturday during the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge in the Atlanta area.
Less than half a day into the actual 7-on-7 scrimmages at the star-studded camp, Robinson pulled down the miracle grab you see above, leaping above superstar defensive back Chris Hawkins in the back of the end zone, somehow keeping his feet inbounds to record what was almost certainly the most impressive touchdown of the event.
While the catch may not have earned Robinson the camp's overall MVP award, that may be more a testament to the extraordinary depth in Atlanta than it is any kind of a condemnation of Robinson's potential. Considering the fact that 80 of the nation's top-100 rising seniors were in attendance at the weekend-long event — not to mention 20 of the top rising juniors — anyone who found a way to stand out is almost certain to be a difference-maker at the next level, provided they stay healthy.
That was certainly the case for the Auburn-committed Robinson, who turned plenty of heads on both Saturday and Sunday, perhaps boosting the odds of the Pinson Valley superstar landing coveted five-star status. You can see plenty more video of the best action from the Rivals Challenge right here.
Whether Robinson can earn those accolades, let alone build on them as Class of 2012 top overall recruit Dorial Green-Beckham did as a senior, remains to be seen. Still, at this point it seems safe to say that Robinson is off to a heck of a strong start.
