Michigan guard completely clears defender on monster dunk

Guard Brandon Nazione played a key part in Howell (Mich.) High's one-sided rout of Hartland (Mich.) High, but it wasn't his 22 points or 10 rebounds that had people talking afterward. Instead, it was this dunk, on which he went into Jumpman logo mode and cleared his defender en route to the hoop.

Yes, those are some fine dunking skills. As the ample slow-mo replays show, Nazione was still elevating when, in the paint, he cleared the defender, who clearly made the mistake of thinking that he was going to get a shot at taking a charge just by standing in the paint when one of the other team's guards came steaming down the court. Clearly Nazione isn't that kind of guard.

In fact, he's the kind of guard you don't see too often in Michigan high school hoops. Nazione stands 6-foot-8 and isn't afraid to crash the boards, yet he also has the ball-handling skills to cause matchup problems along the perimeter for opposing defenses.

Statistically, the Howell star averages 18 points per game and double-double's are hardly uncommon -- he recently notched two in a 48-hour period -- and he has been a key part of his squad's run toward a Division title in a tough league that includes the likes of Flint (Mich.) Northwestern High.

Still, no matter how many big wins Howell has ahead, it's likely that Nazione and his teammates will look back on his explosive dunk against Hartland as a major highlight of a memorable campaign.
