Bobby Brown isn't one of the nation's top recruits (no, not that Bobby Brown; this one). Sure, the Lithia Springs (Ga.) High swingman has begun to elicit a little attention from area schools, but he's hardly on the national radar.
Clearly, that lack of exposure has nothing to do with the prospect's athleticism. As you can see from the ridiculous, slam dunk contest-winning jam above, he has absolutely no problem getting up.
Not only did Brown dunk over three players at a prospect showcase earlier this fall, he dunked over two big recruits … with an emphasis on big. The player in front of the Brown dunk triumvirate is 6-foot-6 Dante Buford, while the player directly behind him was 6-foot-4 James Demery, who has been profiled here at Prep Rally, among other online outlets.
Both Demery and Buford are notable dunkers in their own right, so serving as props for a slam from a fellow teen -- and a similarly sized player, at that -- may have been both a badge of honor and a personal favor to a friend.
Clearly, Brown made the most of it. Whether the budding hoopster can use it to generate enough attention to land himself a brighter collegiate future remains to be seen. Among other questions about his ability is the fact that he's had only one year of top-notch varsity basketball performances in Georgia, though that 2010-11 campaign saw him earn both all-region and all-county honors. You can see highlights from his junior season below.
Still, no matter how far Brown gets, one thing is certain: He won't be held back by any lack of athleticism or a limited vertical leap.
