Myles Turner is one of the nation’s top basketball recruits. A rising senior at Euless (Texas) Trinity High, Turner is considered one of the best center prospects in the nation and is a member of the Rivals.com Top 10 for the Class of 2014 as well.
A supremely athletic 6-foot-11 and 225 pounder, there’s little wonder why Turner is in high demand from the entire Big XII and more than a dozen other top programs from the Pac 12, ACC and Big East. Still, as reported by USA Today, what really stands out about Turner is something a bit more particular: His feet.
Turner may have the largest feet in all of prep basketball. The senior currently wears a size 21, but that could very well still grow after his shoe size increased three sizes in the span of just two weeks during his freshman season.
Looking for a comparison? Turner’s feet are already just one size away from Shaquille O’Neal’s and three sizes larger than Yao Ming’s. Considering the fact that both former NBA All-Stars are taller and much larger than Turner, that’s some feat (all puns intended).
"It only took two weeks to go up three sizes," Turner told USA Today. "Two weeks! My mom couldn't believe it. One night my LeBron's were fitting fine then the next day I started noticing that they were a little tight.
"It can be tough [to find size 21 shoes. But it's cool. I don't mind having big feet."
Given the success of those players before him who had similar sized feet, Turner should be plenty thrilled with his oversized kicks.
If he continues to develop at the pace he is now, both physically and with his court skills, he’ll never have to worry about how racking up enough sets of size 21s could pose a financial problem.
