It may still be early in the summer prep basketball season, but Corey Sanders threw down a dunk this weekend that will be tough to top in the next couple months.
Standing just 6-foot-1, 165 pounds, the rising junior point guard made the best of a breakaway during the Reebok Breakout Classic in Philadelphia, shifting the ball between his legs, tossing it off the backboard and completing a reverse alley-oop to himself.
Repeat: Sanders is only 6-foot-1. Then again, he's ranked the No. 75 recruit in the Class of 2015 and among the best undecided point guards on the recruiting trail in 2015. His official mixtape ("Corey Sanders is too nasty") and highlight reel from the Showtime Ballers Annual Kick-Off Tournament have roughly 75,000 views in the last few months.
When he's not making the All-Star Game at the Reebok Breakout Classic, Sanders played for Lakeland (Fla.) McKeel Academy this past winter before competing with the Showtime Ballers on the AAU circuit this summer and reportedly transferring to Sugar Land (Texas) Trent Internationale School in the fall.
Interestingly, rising junior wing Dwayne Bacon -- the No. 22 ranked recruit in the Class of 2015 -- and Sanders have remained teammates throughout, forming one of the nation's most dynamic duos. Heck, they even seem bound for the same collegiate destination.
According to UMhoops.com, Marquette and Memphis offered both Sanders and Bacon (buddy cop film, anyone?) while Michigan remains in heavy pursuit. The point guard who has drawn comparisons to Trey Burke reportedly "loves" the Wolverines coaching staff.
“Some say I’m a scoring point guard, like a Trey Burke type, the evolution of the point guard, stuff like that," Sanders told UMhoops.com. "That’s what I hear. I’m in the gym trying to work on my handles and my shot selection. Trying to get my IQ better. I know that will separate me from other point guards."
Well, that and throwing down between-the-legs, off-the-backboard reverse dunks.
