Unheralded, spritely PG throws down poster slam of the summer over 6-foot-9 son of NBA veteran

Khalil Bedart-Ghani may yet turn out to be a impactful recruit. A rising senior at Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola High, Bedart-Ghani is a penetrating point guard with a sneakily solid jump shot. He can drive, dish and drain the J, and that’s a dangerous trio that most colleges would want to add to their repertoire.

Yet so far, Bedart-Ghani has found his college options less than forthcoming. That’s probably largely due to his height, with Bedart-Ghani standing a relatively modest 6-foot-2 (don’t believe the height listed in the video on the bottom of the post; Charles Barkley used to exaggerate too).

Being 6-foot-2 could be a limiting factor in college, if it weren’t for one thing: Bedart-Ghani can really, really get up. That was never more true than during a recent summer league matchup against national power Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, where Bedart-Ghani found himself driving the lane against Michael Cage Jr.

In case you’re wondering, Michael Cage Jr. is indeed the son of former NBA big man Michael Cage. He stands 6-foot-9, but on this occasion that wasn’t tall enough to keep Bedart-Ghani from the rim and a huge, signature dunk.

Now that is a poster jam.

Who knows if Bedart-Ghani can use the slam as a source of momentum for the rest of the summer circuit and his forthcoming senior season. Regardless of what happens next, he’ll certainly have a signature moment to point back to when he reflects on his Loyola career.
