Two-sport stars aren't all that uncommon in the world of prep sports. Starring in two sports on the same day? Now, that's a different story.

Well on her way to a quadruple-double, Miramonte (Orinda, Calif.) High junior point guard Megan Reid left her basketball game at halftime, changed into her soccer uniform and drove 10 miles to dominate a match 10 miles away.

"I just love both sports," Reid told the San Francisco Chronicle's Mitch Stephens. "I've been playing them since I was in kindergarten or the first grade. It's just part of me. I don't know what I'd do without them."

The 5-foot-8 Reid totaled nine points, seven rebounds, seven steals and six assists before halftime of her team's 81-20 road win over Acalanes (Lafayette, Calif.) High. With that game well in hand, she drove 15 minutes to her school and proceeded to amass three goals and one assists in a 5-2 victory against visiting Alhambra (Martinez, Calif.) High.

She captured MVP honors in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League as a freshman and has captured All-League honors in both sports during her first two seasons. In fact, she might be the league's best player in both sports as a junior and has garnered attention from Division I colleges for each, according to Stephens. Not too shabby.

According to the story, Reid is scheduled to play both sports on the same day 12 times this season -- if not more, considering both teams could potentially make a postseason run. Her hoops team has started 21-1 while her soccer team stands at 5-6-2.

So, how do her coaches feel about this development?

"We're here to help kids realize their dreams, not crush them," Miramonte girls basketball coach Kelly Sopak told the San Francisco Chronicle. "If this is what she loves and wants to do, God love her."
