Sometimes a team is shooting so well that they just can’t miss. Few squads have ever had a night more strikingly in that vein than what Kent City (Mich.) High’s girls basketball team achieved on Friday night.

Facing Wyoming (Mich.) Lee High, the Eagles shattered the previous Michigan record for made three-pointers in a single game, connecting on 23 attempts from behind-the-arc. The previous girls basketball state record was 18 shots, with Kent City breaking the record by nearly 30 percent.

The previous Kent City school record was 15 3-pointers.

According to M Live, Justine Wolter led Kent City with six made 3-pointers, accounting for 18 of her game-high 22 points. Another Kent City starter had four made threes and two had three 3-pointers in a 82-17 victory.

"We were on tonight and [Lee] played in a zone defense for a long time, which allowed us to shoot for the 3-point line. It was pretty spread out," Kent City coach Scott Carlson told M Live. "They had good shots tonight and took good shots and made them."

Of course, that tends to be the way that coaches always draw up a game plan, it just usually doesn’t lead to 22 made threes. Needless to say, Kent City won’t forget the one time that it surprisingly did, and neither will the unsuspecting Lee squad, either.
