We've seen plenty of great receptions this year from across the nation, but few (if any) have required greater concentration than the one you see below.
In a game between Glendale (Az.) Apollo High and crosstown rival Glendale (Az.) Deer Valley High, Apollo receiver Braxton Nickerson stole the show by somehow corralling this wild touchdown grab which bounced off a Deer Valley defender twice, before Nickerson was able to use leverage between his own well-timed leap and the defender's helmet to retain possession in the end zone.
That is one unbelievable touchdown grab.
Nickerson's big play went a long way toward deciding the Glendale rivalry game, too. Apollo led only 10-7 late in the second quarter when Nickerson scored his touchdown, which padded the school's cushion to 10 points at halftime. He then added a second big catch early in the second half to set up another touchdown, paving the way for Apollo's eventual 31-14 victory.
Somehow those were Nickerson's only two catches of the game. For 7-1 Apollo, those two were enough. Nickerson, his teammates and Apollo fans are also sure to remember his wild deflecting touchdown grab in the weeks and months ahead, too, not to mention one very unfortunate Deer Valley defensive back.
