A top Texas football program was plunged into tragedy on Sunday when one of its top players, a highly recruited wide receiver and defensive back, disappeared after jumping into a nearby lake.

As reported by the Dallas Morning News, NBC DFW and a handful of other outlets, Coppell (Texas) High wide receiver Jacob Logan disappeared after jumping into Possum Kingdom Lake on Sunday. According to the Morning News, Logan was swimming with friends at a lake house of a teammate when he and a group of fellow teammates decided to jump off a series of cliffs that overlook the lake.

While all of Logan's teammates immediately resurfaced from the leaps into the water, Logan never came back up for air. His teammates quickly alerted authorities who began a search of the lake for the teen, but could not find him when searches were called off for the night after 4 hours and 15 minutes on Sunday.

"I'm struggling," Coppell coach Joe McBride told the Morning News. "Jacob jumped into the lake and nobody has seen him."

Though it's too early to say for certain that Logan is gone for good, his loss would have a dramatic impact on his teammates both off the field and on. According to Rivals.com, the senior was being recruited by the likes of Oregon, Oregon State, Texas Tech, Arizona and Colorado, among other schools.

Needless to say, those future prospects and concerns and now a distant memory with Logan's survival very much in doubt. A prayer vigil for the teen was held at Coppell's football stadium on Sunday night, with prayers and hopes sent up on hopes that the football star might miraculously be found alive.
