Texas WR pulls down NFL-quality toe-drag touchdown

For the second straight season, Cedar Park (Texas) High saw its promising season end at the hands of national power Austin (Texas) Lake Travis High in the state playoffs. At least this time, the Timberwolves captured what has to be considered the best catch of the game -- and of the best of the season -- in the process.

As you can see in the video above, Cedar Park wide receiver Ethan Fry somehow pulled in a 32-yard deep pass from senior quarterback Brian Hogan as he was falling out of bounds. In fact, if you watch the clip above closely, you can make out just how Fry was able to drag his feet in bounds to ensure that the Wolves got credit for his score.

You can see another view of the grab below, though KXAN-TV's footage doesn't showcase just how close to the sideline Fry really was. It truly was the stuff of NCAA or NFL highlight reels. Suffice it to say, Santonio Holmes would approve.

At the time, Fry's touchdown grab was particularly clutch, too. The score cut Lake Travis' lead to 7-6, and a second quarter field goal briefly gave Cedar Park a 9-7 lead.

That lead held for less than a minute, with Lake Travis regaining the lead on a 44-yard touchdown trot by star running back Varshaun Nixon. From there, the defenses took over, ensuring that the Cavaliers would advance with a 14-9 win.

Those defensive stands also meant that Fry's touchdown served as a coda to Cedar Park's offensive season. While the Timberwolves surely would have rather walked away with a victory, at least they could rest easy knowing that their last scoring play of the season was one of their best.
